28. Updates + Why Books, Beer and Banter Make the Perfect Pairing
and a hint on how to spend this weekend
Dear Reader,
It’s been a whirlwind of an August for us at Bibliotherapy HQ. Between catching up on reading, working on a new Reader Experience and refreshing our approach to the Readers of 42 program, there’s been a lot that we’re excited about :) head to the end for a quick roundup!
Before that: we have an announcement. A collaboration that’s been in the works, for our Reader Experiences.
To know more about the ‘why’ behind our Reader Experiences, here’s a post that sums it up.
Beverages and books pair so well together. Kinda like sipping on something that’s been brewed to perfection, while a story begins to brew between the pages of your book!
Fort City Brewing, Hauz Khas, is one of the places in Delhi that makes a mean IPA and has taken happy hour in a different direction by hosting fun workshops and experiences around beer. Our friend Nikhil Kamath, a regular at our Reader Experiences, helped us craft a fun Reader Experience with them.
Together, we decided to pair their brews with one of our favourite authors, P.G. Wodehouse, in a hat-tip to the inimitable Jeeves and Wooster. Check it out!

August Recap
Take a look at all that happened in August as it ‘slipped away into a moment in time’, to quote Taylor Swift.
The Joy of Reading: Chapters From Our Childhoods: We took a trip down memory lane at Kunzum GK2 with the lovely award-winning author Nilanjana Roy, as we talked about the 80s and 90s when we grew up, and read from her favourite book: Kids and Cubs by Olga Perovskaya. The best part? We were lucky to have not one but TWO authors with us. The brilliant Manjula Padmanabhan attended too, and the banter between her and Nilanjana was a ton of fun.
Manjula then wrote this delightful piece on her Substack:We were invited by the good folks at Penguin India and Uber for the launch of ‘Uber Reads’, a city shuttle that takes you all over Delhi and has a library for you to read while you roam. We were joined by Ishan from Karwaan Heritage, who took us through the fascinating stories of Delhi, and authors of The Book of Emperors, Ashwitha Jayakumar & illustrator Nikhil Gulati, and author of Fool Me Twice, Nona Uppal. How cool is that!
We’re gearing up to head to Mumbai next month! We recently partnered with leap.club recently to curate their library for the brand new ‘leap.club offline’ in Bandra, Mumbai, in collaboration with the best publishing houses in India. It’s a space for women to professionally network, organize meetings, workshops, and a lot more.
Next month, we’re organizing our first ever members-only event at their space!
An afternoon where we get together, play fun ice-breaker games, read from a curated article in our Reader Companions together, have an interactive session talking books, reading and favourite authors, followed by brunch. Join them if you’re a woman looking to supercharge your career and your network and join us.
And that’s a wrap!
Stay connected with us for the next Readathon, where we’ll send you *one* excellent long-form article, book excerpt, essay or webcomic every single day from the 1st to the 14th of September, by the world’s best authors, writers and journalists.
Cheers! :)
